You do it again. Am Anfang war es wohl die Begeisterung über die Etappen die wir abfuhren. "Fantastic, beautiful". Nach der fünften Etappe fehlten ihm wohl die Worte. "Du tust es schon wieder!" Dabei waren ein paar Highlights noch garnicht erreicht. Für einen coolen Engländer wie Andrew Fewtrell viele Emotionen. Libyen mit seinen Naturschönheiten kann schon beeindrucken. Aber genauso haben wir die Rally angelegt. Lange, schnelle Etappen wechseln mit kurzen aber schwierigen, sodass genug Zeit bleibt das Land kennenzulernen. Die sportliche Herausforderung bleibt ein Ziel der Libya-Rally-Raid. Der genaue Streckenverlauf mit Kilometerangaben wird später veröffentlicht. Jetzt wird erst das Roadbook von Tobias Witt gebaut. Schon 2008 hat er eine fehlerfreie Arbeit abgeliefert. Ulli Jäger der erfolgreiche Rally-Raid Pilot hat alle Strecken auf Tauglichkeit geprüft. Martin Groeger unser Umweltexperte sorgte dafür, dass die Wüste sauber blieb. Jürgen Schmitt bewies, die Strecke ist auch mit einem LKW zu bewältigen. Mansour, unser Partner der libyschen Agentur AANIA hat die behördlichen Hürden wieder gekonnt gemeistert. Lorna Fewtrell die Lady im Team war unsere gute Seele. Wir rasierten uns regelmäßig, wechselten öfter die Klamotten als üblich. So wurde die Vortour eine wundervolle, harmonische Reise. Abends am Lagerfeuer wenn Andrew zur Gitarre griff rekapitulierten wir nochmal die Ereignisse des Tages. Für all das meinen tiefen Dank an mein Team. Ihr wart großartig. An die Teilnehmer: Davon erzählt ihr noch euren Enkeln. Freunde der Wüste die uns touristisch begleiten: die Strecken sind so gewählt, dass ein normaler Geländewagen reicht und ein paar Besonderheiten sind vorbereitet. But that´s how we have planned the layout of this rally. Long and fast tracks in constant change with short but difficult ones to have enough time to see the country. The sportive challenge remains the target of the Libya-Rally-Raid. The exact track will be published later. Currently the roadbook is built by Tobias Witt. Already in 2008 he delivered accurate work. Ulli Jäger, the succesful Rally-Raid pilote, checked all stages to usability. Martin Groeger, our enviroment expert, took care of a clean desert. Jürgen Schmitt proved that the tracks could be managed with a truck. Mansour, our Libyan partner of the AANIA agency, mastered all governmental obstacles again. Lorna Fewtrell the lady in our team was our good soul. We had a shave on a regular base and changed clothes more often than normal. So our pretour came out to a wonderful harmonical travel. The campfire in the night, when Andrew got out his guitar, was the place to sum up the incedences of the day. For all taht my deep thanks to the team. You were awesome. To the participants: you will tell your grandchilds about this. To the friends of the desert, who will accompany us on the tourist tour: the tracks are designed for a normal off road vehicle and some specialities are prepared. Was alles aus einem zweitägigen Aufenthalt im Niemandsland entstanden ist wurde eine großartige Story mit Happy-End. Nun kenne ich auch die Rally-Raid aus Sicht eines Veranstalters. Sportfreunde ich sage euch: "Ehrt eure deutschen Veranstalter, sie essen ein hartes Brot". Amateurrallys werden von Menschen gemacht, die alle einem Beruf nachgehen, werden oft nicht ausreichend bezahlt und sie leisten Großartiges. Tired but happy we are home again. What had developed out of a two-day stop over in nowhere land was a great story with a Happy-End. Now I also know about the Rally-Raid from an organizer’s point of view. Sport friends I am telling you: "Give honour to the German organizers, the have to eat hard bread". Amateur rallies are organized by people who all have a normal job, are often not properly paid but they are doing a very good job.
